Q: What originally interested you about the field of Parks and Recreation?Ī: It started as a work study job in college, but it was after my work as a Recreation coordinator in a juvenile prison in South Carolina that made me begin to love what I do.Ī: I created recreation programs whether indoor, or outdoor for the boys to do and found it to be a rewarding experience. Q: Have you always lived in Haverford Township?Ī: Yes, I have lived in this township my entire life and so has my wife Diane, and now we’ve raised our family here as well. There, I had the opportunity to discuss with him this recent opening of the Haverford Reserve and what’s in store for the future of Havertown. He is the Assistant Township Manager and Director of Parks and Recreation for the Haverford Township and has worked in both positions for over 15 years, and lives in Havertown with wife his Diane and their five children.Īs I sat in Denny’s main office in Havertown to inquire about his recent accomplishments, I was surrounded by family pictures and memorabilia that exemplified his life as a family man and devoted township resident. Tim Denny has been able to put Haverford Township at the forefront of the environmental movement and inspire residents to live an eco-friendly lifestyle. The Haverford Reserve has just recently won the Green Park Award by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for its sustainability. that includes an environmental center, dog park, playgrounds, and turf athletic fields. One man responsible for the happiness of the residents is Director of Parks and Recreation Tim Denny.ĭenny’s most recent accomplishment was opening the Haverford Reserve in 2012, a community recreation center in Havertown, Pa. “May You Be Happy and Live with Ease,” reads the headline for the latest Haverford Reserve Brochure, and the residents of Haverford Township are indeed happy.
